In-game economies can be circular economies – build player habits of repair and re-use, and raise the value of junk.
Bear & Breakfast encourages players to see garbage, junk, and detritus as useful resources.
Discarded furniture and broken appliances can be disassembled into crafting materials, and smaller junk items are used as a secondary currency.
Over the course of the game, players make a mental map of where they’re more likely to find discarded furniture to find specific resources (such as the junkyard) and often travel to such places when they need to. This Highlights Sustainable Behaviour and creates a habit of looking for things that can be re-used rather than bought.
