Bring the extra optimization done for console or mobile ports back to high-end devices.
“Miracle ports” such as Ori and the Will of the Wisps on Nintendo Switch went the extra mile to preserve the crisp graphics and high framerate of the original game on a console that uses up to 20 times less power than others.
Other prominent “Miracle ports” include DOOM, DOOM Eternal, The Witcher and Skyrim.
If such prowess is achievable, can we bring these savings back to every version of the game? Some of these optimisations will compromise on quality and may be unsuitable to bring back to high-end devices (or maybe part of an Eco Mode?), but a lot of it is simply the result of additional time spent on superior engineering. Backporting lets more players enjoy the benefits, and reduces everyone’s power consumption.
